Dear Diary 🇳🇴
Today it is The Norwegian Constitution Day. The Norwegian constitution was more or less finish this day, and accepted with signatures in 1814. Norway was in union with Denmark from 1660, with just a bit “on/off” untill 1814. Then Norway went in union with Sweden, and was in union with Sweden untill 1905,- but Norway got the opportunity to write theier own constitution allready in 1814. 🇳🇴💛
The Norwegian Constitution is inspired by USA Declaration of Independence- 1776🇺🇸, The Swedish form of Government- 1804 🇸🇪 and also The Spanish Constitution – 1812🇪🇸
It was 112 men that write down this law togheter, on a place in Norway called Eidsvoll.
Some times constituional amendment is necessary, because the society is in change, but its not a easy process, but necessary process. And the Norwegian Constitution has been changes a bit and a couple of times since 1814.
Me in my “bunad”, many years ago in Norway- celebrating 17.May🇳🇴
How do we celebrate 17.May in Norway?🇳🇴🎉
In Norway we goes in different parades, and for some reason I still don’t know, we call this parades for “train/tog”. And that can be a bit confusing,- because its not a train 🚂🚃😅
I remember when Johan (my oldest son) was around 3 years old he did really looking forward to see “the train” 🚂🚃😊,- of course- I have told him about the celebration of 17.May, and about “the train”,- and he have heard about this in the kindergarden as well . And he didnt remember anything about the celebration of last 17.May,- he was just 2 years old then😊
We was standing on the roadside and waiting for “the train”. And he was waiting and waiting, and looking and looking after “the train”. I did show him “the train”,- but still he couldn’t see any train 😅🚂🚃. Of course not!😅 In his mind he was looking for a train, a real train,- and I have totally forgot to explain to him that “the 17.May train” was an parade😅
He was so sad and so disappointed that day😔🤤, and I had big problems to made him happy again 😔. But when we went the the school where the celebration did continue, he became my happy little boy again💙,- but he has still not the “biggeste” “interess” to watch “the train” the 17.May,- but he like to celebrate the 17.May with the other different “events ” that are around this day.
The Norwegian 17.May Parade in Spain- Fuengerola and Benalmadena some years ago 🎉🇳🇴
1836 was the first time 17.May was celebrated in Norway, and after this year its became a national tradition 🇳🇴. In 1947 the 17.May became a national holiday.
The parades starts early in the morning, some places allready at 06.00,- and there are different parades during the day in different places and areas,- both locally and nationally.
The parades includes songs🎶, band- music🥁, different banners, the Norwegian flag🇳🇴,- and also funny “touches”🎉🎈,-and of course our national song “Ja, vi elsker dette landet”,- made by the famous poet and textwriter Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832-1910).
In between the parades its different events and celebrations at different schools. Its speaks, band-music, different activities for both children and adults. Funny competitions,- and a lots of happiness and joy😊. And a lots of hotdogs and ice-cream 🌭🍦🥃. Its like this is the “national food” this day😊,- but if course its many other food as well, and cakes 🎂.
When 17.May became a national holiday in 1947, the 2.world war was just finish a couple of year earlier,- and Norway was not a very rich country at that moment,- so hotdogs and ice-cream was a cheap and tasty party- food at that time,- and has became a kind of a “food- tradition” at 17.May after that 😊.
Me in my “bunad” some years ago in Norway,- and a cake I did made for the celebration 🍦🇳🇴
Its happy people everywhere,- and many use the national party- dress this day, called “bunad”. Its different types of “bunad” from different areas in Norway. My “bunad” is called “Rogalands- bunad”.
This is day, the Norwegian 17.May- celebrating, is a day worth getting to see if you are in or want to travel to Norway 😊🇳🇴💛
I don’t have any “up-dated ” photo of me in my “bunad”,- but hopefully you will get a tiny impression of how it looks like 😊. My “bunad” is still in Norway, we still have different things in Norway that we hopefully we be able to get to Spain 😊.
Our celebration today 🇳🇴🍦🌭🎂🥃🎈🎉
We have been celebrating The Norwegian Constitution Day in Spain, in more or less “the norwegian way”. But now the children are young adults,- and both me, Johan, Sally, Fabian and Millie is working today.
17.May is not a national holiday in Spain,- it is a very normal workingday. So later this afternoon, after work, we are going to have just a small celebration in our, me and Emma’s, home, with hotdogs and ice-cream.🌭🍦🥃 Me, my 3 children and my sons girlfriends 💛,- and I m looking forward to this later today 😍I like to spend time with my children💛
Me in my bunad some years ago in Norway 🇳🇴😊
